Amazon has announced their next Kindle Fire HDX tablets. The new Kindle Fire HDX tablets are a piece of immense hardware power and great usability. This time, it looks like with the introduction of Kindle Fire HDX tablets, Amazon is ready to compete against the likes of iPad and Nexus tablets at any level including hardware, software or price.
Kindle Fire HDX tablets
There are two different Kindle Fire HDX tablets. Both are almost the same in terms of hardware and software except for the fact that one is a 7inch model while the other one is a bit larger 8.9inch mode. Both the models have same design structure and it feels good to hold them in the hands. Amazon has really worked well in order to reduce the size and weight of its Kindle devices and it can be seen particularly in the 8.9-inch model.
Few interesting changes have been made to the new Kindle Fire HDX tablets. Instead of sides, you will find the volume buttons at the back of the device. It looks confusing but once you are used to it, it makes more sense.
On the hardware side, both Kindle Fire HDX tablets have 2.2GHZ Snapdragon 800 processor coupled with 2GB of RAM and Andreno 330GPU. The GPU used in the Kindle Fire HDX tablets gives up to 4x time the graphics performance compared to the old Kindle devices. And still Amazon claims that the new Kindle Fire HDX tablets will give a battery life of up to 11hrs and up to 17hrs if you are just reading.
The only difference between the two Kindle Fire HDX tablets is the screen sizes of the devices. The 7 inch model has a lower resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels compared to the 8.9-inch 2560 x 1600 pixels.
And the last and foremost exceptional feature in the new Kindle Fire HDX tablets is the introduction of Mayday button located at top right side of the device. Pressing the button will connect you to a live customer representative whom you will see on your screen. The representative can then see what apps are you running and can guide you in different cases. If you fail to resolve the issue, the representative can virtually take over the device remotely to resolve the issue.
Kindle Fire HDX tablets starts from $229 for the 7-inch model and $379 for the 8.9-inch model. The LTE models of the Kindle Fire HDX tablets are at $329 and $479 respectively.
