Google PageRank Update in November 2011

By Tuan Do

Exactly 3 months after the update in August, Google PageRank has been updated again today on November 08, 2011. The update has eliminated all recent doubts that Google PageRank could be killed in the near future. I imagined about the death of Google PageRank but it won’t happen, it was just an update in the URL to query PageRank. Therefore, I write this post to notify all bloggers about the PR update and the new PR of my site.

Higher Pagerank for TechWalls

The update has brought good news for TechWalls as the 8-month-old blog keeps increasing in the rank. It had PR2 after the August update and now the number has turned to PR3. I am very happy as this is the highest PageRank I’ve ever had for all my blogs, it must prove that I am on the right track in developing the tech blog.

pagerank-3

Although the PageRank is not as important as it was a few years ago, this is still a big encouragement for me at the moment. For the last week, my blog has been affected by the Google’s freshness update and the number of pageviews has dropped to about 2,400 views each day. I was a little disappointed after losing some important keywords on Google’s SERPs, however, the increase in PR shows that Google doesn’t downgrade my site and I still have many chances to get higher ranking for those keywords.

Apart from TechWalls, I own about 9 other websites including very new ones. It’s great as most of them have PR1 and PR2 now although I didn’t spend much time on building links and improving search engine ranking. Some bloggers even claimed that their 2-week-old blogs could have PR3 without any works, the situation happened to my blog once but that blog’s PR has decreased to PR0 now, I guess it is just a bug or mistake from Google and they will fix it soon.

Benefits of High PageRank

I often complain about the accuracy of Google PR in evaluating a website. Having said that, I can’t deny the importance of the green bar as most advertisers still consider it as one of the most important metric in offering prices for ad slots. Besides, I have sold 2 websites on Flippa and realized that it is very difficult to sell PR0 websites whereas higher PR websites could be sold much easier. It seems like buyers still look at the rank to determine if this is an established website or not.

Therefore, I can sure that my revenue from this blog won’t be affected even when the traffic could be lower than last month due to the Google’s algorithm update. The PR update has really become my savior this time and thanks Google for that.

Have you seen the PageRank update on your website? Let us know what’s your new PageRanks and how it will increase your revenue.

Hi Tuan, I have definitely benefited from the recent updates from google (PR and the new google freshness). I have seen my blog gone from PR2 to PR4, many internal pages got PR3 (including some posts that were published less than two weeks ago). But my biggest joy has been the massive increase in traffic from SE. Google freshness has given me a major search engine traffic with many of my posts been indexed less than 2 hours after publishing and ranking as well.
My hard work in quality content has started to pay off.
    Very happy chap here ^_^

      Congrats for your success, Samuel.
PR4 is my blog’s goal in the next Google PR update. I am posting new content everyday and hopefully the efforts could gain more traffic to my blog.
Btw, I often see my posts indexed just a few minutes after published. Is it a good sign?

        It’s pleasure mate.
From my personal point of view, I’m yet to experience any negatives from early indexing from google, in fact I see it as a sign of vote from google. I have opened up guest posting on the site and my next step is to start guest posting on other blogs too. Hopefully this will help bring in that more needed authority in the blogoshere.
        Thanks

Since I started my blog, not only to have a place to express myself, but to also get involved in paid blogging opportunities, I am hoping that my jump from 0 to 1 will help with that. Seeing this post made me realize that it isn’t as sporadic as I originally thought. (I guess I should read more about SEO) I assumed it just jumped whenever it felt like it and I’ve been working my butt off to get it up. Now that I know I have approximately 3 more months to get myself to a 2, I can rest a little easier and possibly start a few more blogs to help me generate revenue.

it’s nice to know that you got PR3. Keep your good job bro….But I think, better SERP is the most important, so it still need a lots of work to do

Fancy seeing you here friend lol, yea SERP is mostly important. A nice PR goes along the way but there are more underground work that needs doing as well. And we also have to remember, this is not the internal pagerank that google uses.

    Hi,

I’ve just checked my site’s PR and I am amazed to see that my site is now PR3. It is only 4 months old and obviously it was pr0 before that.

Though now I’ve got a higher PR, I am still not sure how to make use of it.. any suggestions??

Pretty much everyone has noticed an increase, I think they’ve just made it easier.

For example a new blog of mine http://tubehack.co.uk is only 2 months old with around 12 articles and already has PR3.

My site went to PR 4 in less than a year and then down to PR 3 and has stayed there. Kind of wish it could just go back to 4. :/

I wouldn’t trust the November PR update, seems some very strange things are going on with Google (esp since the Panda updates). I created a brand new site in mid October and low and behold it got a PR3 after the update. It was barely 3 weeks old. I had hardly even started to build any backlinks to it.

Some of my older sites didn’t change at all despite having loads of high quality high PR backlinks to them.

Google PageRank (and to an extent search results) seems to be getting less about the science of PageRank ‘flow’ and building backlinks to becoming more like a lottery.

It’s certainly made my life as an internet marketer much more complicated as nothing makes logical sense any more.

Hey Tuan,I never noticed that PR update had occurred already. This is because there is no changes with my blogs. My business blog remains PR2 and its 1.1 year old. I am continuously marketing my blog throughout the Internet and I can even break the PR2 barrier. May I ask how you did it?Thanks and nice blog!

Increasing PR is easier than you thought. The problem is just if you have enough time or money.
I will share some of my views to increase PR in a post next week. Stay tuned. :)

Hey Tuan,Definitely looking forward into it. I am quite knowledgeable about some of the best SEO tricks like link wheel. Did you ever apply this method? Mentioning money, I availed the services of submitedge.com for directory submission, article submission, social bookmarking and Dmoz….fortunately, still no increase in pagerank. I am now concentrating on guest posting which I believed increases my traffic. Thanks Noah

Just don’t be happy about current update. Because this is mega update but I think Google will make newest update soon. Why? They perhaps passed a lot of site with low quality for high PR. Example, brand new sites got PR3+, with no traffic or inbound links. Then the owner sold links on fiverr, this happened today. Just beware because sometime this euphoria won’t last longer.

Some of good blogs decreased PR. This is so sad, after all hard work to create fresh articles and link building. Actually I have no idea why this update full with surprises. But newbies with new blog then suddenly got PR4, they always think this is blessing from God. Nope, this is just temporary..

My blogs still got PR2, but few of them with 5 months old got PR1, and 1 decrease from PR3 to PR2. Then I realize several blogs delete my links (I use link exchange manual with friends) so I delete all unused links. I saw their blog got PR3+ because I still put their link on my blogs.

But my personal opinion, I put my concentration to traffic, because those PR number will blind your eyes from creativity and will open your eyes just for money. GBU Tuan Do! Love your blog.

      Great opinion!
I also think that’s it’s good to have high PR. However, it’s more important to serve readers with good content, then we will have high traffic as well. Reader base shows the success of a blog, not that PageRank number.
