The New Asus Transformer Pad 300 vs Acer Iconia Tab A510

The Asus Transfomer Pad 300 and Acer Iconia Tab A510 are two new tablets that share a very common specifications and features. Both these tablets are powered by the same NVIDIA Tegra 3 Quad Core Processor with 4-PLUS-1 technology and runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The Similarities

Now that we have outlined their specifications, let’s take a look that their similarities first. Both the Asus Transformer Pad 300 and Acer Iconia Tab A510 are powered by the same NVIDIA Tegra 3 Quad Core processor and runs on the latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box. Both of them also sports a 10.1-inch display with a 1280×800 pixel resolution and 149 pixel per inch density.

The Asus Transformer Pad 300 series has 1GB of RAM and a 32GB internal storage with expendable memory of up to 32GB through microSD, same with the Acer Iconia Tab A510.

Aside from that, both of them also have the same connectivity options like WiFi, Bluetooth, microUSB and micro HDMI. Basically, what the Asus Transformer Pad 300 can do, the Acer Iconia A510 can also do it.

The Difference

Now let us take a look at the difference of these two quad core powered tablets. The Acer Iconia Tab A510 is generally smaller compared to the Transformer Pad 300. But the Transformer Pad 300 is slimmer by 0.3mm according to its specs. And the Transformer Pad 300 is lighter by 45 grams compared to the A510.

Both of them have their own signature designs. The Asus Transformer 300 Pad carries the spiral design at the back of the tablet, whereas the Iconia Tab A510 was inspired by the Olympic Games and carries the Olympic logo behind it.

Although both of them have the same 10.1-inch display, the Asus Transformer Pad 300 has a better display since it is built with an IPS display. This means that the Iconia A10 is slightly faster, but for an average user you would not notice the difference at all, compared to the Transformer Pad 300.

Another major difference is the camera. The Asus Transformer Pad 300 has an 8 megapixel autofocus rear camera with a large aperture size of f/2.2, which is great for low light conditions. Its rear camera is capable of capturing 1080p HD videos. Meanwhile the Acer Iconia Tab A510 has only a 5 megapixel camera which is capable of capturing 720p videos.

With regards to the quality of the images that were taken, the bigger the megapixels does not necessarily mean that it has a better image quality. But in recent photo samples taken using the Transformer Pad 300 and Acer Iconia A510, the Transformer Pad 300 beats the Iconia Tab A510 in terms of the quality of the photos and videos taken.

Both of them also have a front facing camera, but the Asus Transformer Pad 300 has a 1.2 front facing camera, while the Iconia Tab A510 has only 1 megapixel front facing camera.

Now here is the biggest difference, and could be your deciding factor that will make you decide whether you opt for the Transformer Pad 300 or Acer Iconia Tab A510, the price. The Acer Iconia Tab A510 is currently priced at $499 with its 32GB model, but Asus offers a better price with only $399 for the 32GB variant of its Transformer Pad 300. That is a $50 difference.
