Autonomous has been well-known for producing affordable high-quality motorized standing desks but few people know that they also have a wide range of office products. I’ve tested the Autonomous ErgoChair Pro (formerly known as ErgoChair 2) for about 8 months and this is undoubtedly my favorite office chair so far.
Unboxing & Assembly
Features & Performance
The ErgoChair Pro comes in a big box and it requires some assembly before you can use. The instructions have everything you need and it would take just about half an hour to put all the parts together. I was quite surprised with the final product because it looks exactly like images posted on Autonomous website. I can feel this is a high-quality product with modern design and solid build. I chose the green color with white frame and it looks just amazing.
The chair is fairly heavy at nearly 50 lbs, so I need to use the wheels most of the time when moving it. The advantage of the heavy base is that it makes the chair stable and steady when you lean back. Even when I try my best pressing my back against the chair, there is no way I could make the chair collapse. Therefore, I feel so confident laying back on this chair.
It has the weight capacity of 350 lbs, so it can carry almost all of us. I’m 5’7″ tall and weighs 160 lbs, this ErgoChair Pro fits me perfectly. What I love the most about the ErgoChair is that almost all parts are adjustable to deliver a proper sitting posture. Features that are usually reserved for high-end chairs like Herman Miller are now made available at a much more affordable price. I made a comparison between the ErgoChair Pro and the Aeron Chair by Herman Miller and found out the ErgoChair is a great value. At a fraction of the cost, we still have features like superior back support, adjustable tilt and seat angle, breathable seat and back, adjustable arms, and a head rest.
Most of the time, I set the back straight up when working on my computer; However, instead of locking the back in that position, I unlock the back tilt so that I can lean back whenever I want. In this case, I often crank up the back tension so that it could support my back better. Most controls are placed under the seat on the right side; Here you can also adjust the height, tilt the seat, and move the seat forward/backward. Besides, you can adjust tension of the lumbar support and adjust its position manually on the back. Other adjustments include the armrest and headrest.
Most of us can’t sit straight up all day. Apart from switching to standing, I sometimes need to get pressure off my back and enhance blood circulation by fully reclining the chair. The ErgoChair Pro doesn’t lay down flat but the angle is comfortable enough for me to stretch my limps and take a nap. Since my leg is slightly lifted up in the reclining position, I need to use a footrest; The footrest along with the headrest really help me have a good rest and therefore, improve work productivity. If you have a business and plan to buy office chairs for your employees, the ErgoChair Pro is a great recommendation and I believe your employees will appreciate the comfort during long work hours.
I do not only use it when working on my computer but also use it as a recliner. It is much more portable than a recliner, so I can move it close to my window to read books, chill out, or listen to music. Every time I sit on the chair, I know it will be a comfortable experience, either when I’m working or relaxing. The chair allows me to lock in at different reclined positions and I don’t have to pay extra for that feature.
I’ve used the chair heavily in my home office since October 2019 and it even performs better at the moment. This is the 2nd generation of ErgoChair and the seat was updated with softer foam. The cushion is actually still firm enough so it can keep the form better over time. In fact, all pictures in this review were taken 8 months later and everything still looks and feels like new. No maintenance is required, I just need to vacuum/clean it occasionally to remove some hair or dust.
It is very difficult to find out shortcomings of the ErgoChair Pro, except some minor issues. For instance, the headrest and lumbar support’s height are difficult to adjust, and the armrest wobbles a little when setting at the highest height setting.
Conclusion
Pros
- Comfortable in straight-up or reclined position
- Almost all parts are adjustable
- Sturdy and stable
- Low price
- Modern design
- Breathable mesh back
Cons
- Some parts are difficult to adjust
Overall, the ErgoChair Pro (ErgoChair 2) is almost a perfect solution for anyone with back problems or anyone that has to sit for hours every day. You won’t be able to find a better office chair at the price, we at TechWalls highly recommend the product. You can use the promo code R-twdesk to save from $15 to $200 during checkout on Autonomous.

Hello,
This is a good article. A good chair is a worthwhile investment. Anyone who spends alot
of time in front of a pc working or playing online games will appreciate it.
It can help prevent back problems and prevent sore backsides ! Having a bad back
can be costly, take up time and also be painful. So its best to avoided!
