In a few days, we will be nearing a month since the iPhone 5 has been available for consumers. Despite the news of shortages of the iPhone 5, resulting in many having month long wait times before they can get their hands on their own iPhone, there are millions of individuals out there who are lucky enough to have their iPhone 5 at home. Due to the shortage, and because of the oblivious price factor, damaging your iPhone 5 at this time wouldn’t be the smartest thing to do. To calm your nerves and your wallets, here are four of my recommended iPhone 5 cases for new users.
LifeProof
The Lifeproof case is one of my favorite iPhone cases on the market today. The case is a industry favorite in the unibody department of mobile cases. Lifeproof ensures that thinness isn’t sacrificed when creating protection for your iPhone. To ensure that no liquids or any substance that may damage your phone seeps through, Lifeproof cases cover all ports and connections, ensuring even the screen receives adequate protection with the built in protection. I noticed with the iPhone 4S’s Lifeproof case, texting was a bit of a chore for the first hour when getting used to the well protected internal screen protection, however you’ll get used to it very quickly.
The Lifeproof is still being developed, however, it is expected to be priced at $79.99.
Otterbox Defender
With Lifeproof being the industry standard for unibody mobile protection, Otterbox is known for offering optimal shock protection. The new series of iPhone 5 cases being previewed seems to not disappoint. Currently, the Otterbox Defender ($43), Commuter ($29.04), Prefix ($24.95) , and Reflex series ($34.95) are being showcased. In terms of our favorite, we had to choose the Defender series as the best out of the other three Otterbox series. The Defender offered the best protection out of the other Otterbox models, was more visually appealing when in comparison with the Reflex, and was certainly more sturdy than the Prefix.
The Otterbox Defender is confirmed for being priced at $43.
Incase Snap Case
Incase is on our list due to how quality and an affordable price are both offered with their line of cases. One of the two cases on our list already available for purchase, Incase cases are geared toward individuals looking to save money with their iPhone protection. The case we chose to spotlight is the Incase Snap Case. As the name shows, the case simply snaps to the back of the iPhone 5, offering moderate protection for the entire backing, a majority of the surround rim, leaving the bottom, and the full front exposed. The smooth finish makes for easy retrieval when taking out of your pocket to answer a call or for a quick email.
The Incase Snap case is available for purchase today at $29.95.
Griffin Protector Case
The last case we will feature on our list, like the Incase Snap case, offers quality at an affordable price. Also, like the Snap case, the Protector is available right now for purchase. Unlike the Snap case, the Protector offers a bit more protection for your iPhone 5. The full backing, edges, and a majority of the front is protected. The silence key on the side is left open. The iPhone 5 is protected with the Griffin Protector with silicone material. The case also has sides made from gripping, something that users will either love or hate. The Protector is available in eight colors, all of which you can purchase and protect your iPhone with today.
The Griffin Protector case can be purchased on Amazon for $17.99. The case is available in orange, red-orange (Fluoro Fire), grey, turquoise, pink, purple, olive, and red.
