Charge Smartphones Wirelessly on DuPont Corian Solid Surface

If you haven’t heard of Corian, it is the brand name of a solid surface material created by DuPont. Corian is often used on countertop/benchtop surfaces installed by DuPont certified fabricators. It is considered a type of premium decorative surface because of some great characteristics like non-porous, stain resistant, seamless, repairable and renewable, and thermoformable.

The material has limitless design possibilities as it comes in over 100 colors and patterns, and it’s great characteristics make it the perfect addition to our interiors at home, retail environments, hospitality areas, airports, and other public spaces.

Now DuPont officially brings wireless charging to its Corian countertops. As a member of both A4WP and PMA, DuPont has developed wireless charging solutions for mobile devices that can be integrated into countertops made with DuPont Corian solid surface. The Corian Charging Surface technology has been officially launched at NeoCon 2015 in Chicago.

There is no change on the solid surface but now it is even more useful as it can charge your smartphones and tablets wirelessly. The good news is that the transmitter will support dual-mode wireless charging, which means it is compatible with both PMA and the most popular Qi standard. While most other products on the market are supporting Qi only, that’s great to know the PMA standard is also supported in the charging surface. At the moment, PMA is backed by Starbucks, Duracell, AT&T and some phone makers. Besides, with the recent merger agreement between A4WP and PMA, we really can’t predict the future. Therefore, the integration of dual-mode charging will guarantee you are future-proof and you don’t have to worry about replacing countertop in the near future. You can also find a micro-USB port on the Corian Charging Surface, it is used to upgrade firmware as soon as it is available.

Even when your smartphone doesn’t support wireless charging natively, you can use a charging ring from Duracell Powermat or a charging case, then just place it on the charging spot, no more wire clutter on your countertop.
