If you are using a MacBook Pro with 15.4″ Retina display, you might want to get a sleeve because it is much more compact than a laptop bag. However, it is not easy to find a good-looking protective sleeve. The ColcaSac Juan Valdez sleeve seems to be a good product and I gave it a try. Read my review below if you are considering this option for your MacBook.
Design
The Juan Valdez features a minimalist design. There are only 1 compartment to hold your MacBook and a small pocket outside to keep other stuffs like power adapter or mouse.
The exterior is made of jute burlap, reinforced with hemp linen and lined with soft recycled polyester fleece. All materials are natural and eco-friendly. However, the problem of this sleeve is its tight-fitting design. I tried to slide and push my MacBook into the sleeve but it was so tight that I couldn’t push it all the way down and it was impossible to align the seams. Check out the image below, that’s the best I can do.
Protection
As I couldn’t use the ColcaSac sleeve, I don’t really know how it can protect my device. However, this is a very well-cushioned sleeve, the hemp canvas is very thick and I believe it can protect the MacBook from scratches and damages.
At the moment, the ColcaSac Juan Valdez sleeve is unusable. I heard that it will be stretched out and easier to put the MacBook in during usage. But this is still not a good design overall. The sleeve is available on GearZap for £37.95. We don’t recommend this product.
