We often perceive that geeks are only obsessed with electronic gadgets, smart devices, movies, or games. So, you might think that it’s impossible to surprise a geek since they’ve already known and used a lot of tech products. Following are some gift ideas for geeks who have everything, I’m confident that they will be more than happy when opening your present.
Spoiler: Not all of them are related to the digital world
Figurines
Once you get in the world of figurines or action figures, it’s difficult to get out, especially for gamers or movie addicts. They will always want to add new figurines to their collection. So, if you happen to know what that geek is interested in, just catch the newly-released ones for them. The gift is quite economical since the starting price of a figurine is just a few bucks while a beautiful figure costs less than $80. Some suggestions would be Amiibo by Nintendo, Funko, or Good Smile. Check out more action figures on Amazon.
Folding Bike
There is a decent percentage of geeks that are overweight. If you are young and out of shape, people assume you are a computer geek. Unhealthy diets and lack of exercise are the reasons here. Therefore, I believe all geeks will appreciate if you give them something to fix it. A bicycle would be ideal, but it shouldn’t be an ordinary bike, get a folding bike instead. The complicated yet brilliant design of a folding bike will make them excited. The most popular folding bike brands are Brompton, Dahon, and Tern. Make sure to check out reviews of the folding bikes before purchasing one.
Mechanical Keyboard
Undoubtedly, geeks love mechanical keyboards. They spend a lot of time in front of the computer typing or gaming, so a mechanical keyboard with satisfying sound and feel will bring that experience to the next level. Some of the best manufacturers are Corsair, Razer, and SteelSeries. Make sure to buy one with Cherry MX switches. You can also go vintage with typewriter-inspired keyboards like the Qwerkywriter or the Azio Mk Retro.
Books
Books are another affordable gift in the list as the price is often lower than $40. In the era of digital books, surprisingly, physical books are still living well. People or geeks, in particular, love books since they do not only provide knowledge but also have high value as a collectible. A complicated pop-up book, an anime set, or a book including artwork from games or movies will be appreciated. Some examples are Zelda books or pop-up books by Matthew Reinhart.
Give the gift of Experiences, not Things
Geeks might have everything in their bedroom or living room, so they might want to explore the world outside more. Instead of buying them a new gadget, why don’t you give them dedicated meal course in a fine dining restaurant, a sports or concert ticket, or an Airbnb gift card so that they could travel more?
Those are some suggestions or a holiday gift guide for geeks under my point of view. If you are a geek and you want something else, please share with us in a comment below.
