Technology has always been seen as the mysterious invention that the older generations seem to despise. For many of these individuals, this isn’t always the case, and there are many individuals in the tech industry who are in their 70s and 80s.

However, as for my experience with the older generation and technology, the relationship didn’t go so well. Can you imagine that a technologically illiterate person could become a full-fledged blogger? Today, we will show you how you can turn their niche into a popular blog.

Fish out their Interest

This can fall as simple as just asking them what they like to do. However, for a starter blog to turn into a popular one, you must ask them what they are passionate about. In many cases, though, this should be something that is already evident in their daily activities. For example, my grandmother is a coupon fanatic.  Coupon and deal websites are some of the most popular in this economic time. If they are passionate about the subject, it will show in their writing.

Create an Actionable Plan

Now that you have an idea of what they want to write about, it’s now time to create a plan on how to get the ball rolling. First off, choose a blogging platform to publish through. While it’s key to choose a simple blogging platform that is easy to use, it’s even more crucial to choose one that you know your way around. This is important because when you get asked a question on how to do what, you’ll be able to better answer this.

If you use WordPress, in the end, you may want to help them create a WordPress blog. At the moment, you may not be interested in choosing a domain name for the blog, however, you may be interested in shopping around for domain names after a blog name has been established.

Show them around

The blogging platform has been chosen, along with a name and a niche, it’s now time to show them around the blogging platform so they can learn how to publish without you being there. If you know that they may be better at catching on to things quickly, you may only have to show them this in one sitting. However, another option could be to make a sort of guide sheet or guidebook that they can follow. For example, when publishing, adding photos, etc.

Create a workable schedule

The last order of business would be to create a publishing schedule that works for them. Take a look at the calendar and get an idea of when they are the most busy and when they have a bit of free time. You can get this in order by choosing a day each week for them to work on blogging. This is important because when they have a set day to work on things, they will be more likely to get it done than if they had autonomy on when.

Also, one tip to maximize their interest in blogging is to add a monetary incentive when you monetize their website. This can be through something as seamless as affiliate ads/links, or even as complex as sponsorships once their website picks up and you find a couple for them. They will not only see this as a fun hobby, but a profitable one as well!
