I’ve reviewed many Creative audio products but when it comes to gaming, the Creative Sound BlasterX Weapons Crate is the first one. It becomes even more special when this is a limited edition. They made 200 units only and once the current batch is gone, the product won’t be available anymore. Now, let’s see what’s inside.

Sound BlasterX Vanguard K08 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard
The Vanguard K08 is the first keyboard from Creative and they didn’t choose a safe way to go. It has a traditional layout with 109 customizable keys but there are no Cherry switches underneath. Instead, Creative partner with OMRON to develop the customized PRES (Perceive-React-Execute Switches). The switches can withstand over 70 million keystrokes and they are said to deliver a faster response and actions. Specifically, they have a travel distance of just 1.5mm and the total travel depth is 3.5mm.
This is just my first mechanical keyboard with RGB lighting and they look truly gorgeous. It does not only look good but also feel great. I feel quite comfortable when typing or gaming with this keyboard. The keycaps have a low-profile design and a matte finish. Therefore, it’s very soft when my fingertips touch the keys. Besides, the keyboard is not as loud as other mechanical keyboards, so you shouldn’t have any problem gaming at night.
Some other useful features include the USB pass-through port, media and rotary volume control, the detachable wrist rest, and the adjustable stands.

Sound BlasterX Siege M04 Precision Gaming Mouse
The Siege M04 mouse looks less pronounced when standing next to the keyboard, but you shouldn’t underestimate its power. At the time of writing this post, it has the price tag of $64.99 but if you purchase it in a bundle, it costs just $49.99. This is really a good price for a mouse equipped with the PMW3360 sensor which is also powering some popular gaming mice like the SteelSeries Rival 700 or Corsair Gaming M65 Pro.
Similar to the keyboard, the mouse also features the customizable Aurora Reactive Lighting System, so you can change lighting effects on the logo, the base, and the scroll wheel. On top of the mouse, you can find a button which can be used to change DPI on the go; there are 3 levels of DPI that can be configured in the software.
The bundle also includes Sound BlasterX AlphaPad gaming mouse pad which retails for $12.99. The pad measures 10.6″ x 13.7″ x 0.1″ which is spacious enough for gaming. I really love the smooth top surface which allows me to move the mouse faster while the non-slip rubber base keeps the pad steady. If you plan to purchase both the keyboard and the mouse, I highly recommend you to buy the crate because you will almost receive the mouse pad for free and all of them come in a nice carrying suitcase.
