When you have a short trip in a strange town where you don’t know anyone, it is very hard to find a suitable and well-furnished apartment to live in a short time. Most hotels will charge you by day and throw high prices. For me, newspapers are the last place where I would look for a rental space or an apartment.
In my recent search to find a nice rental space, I went on to search it on the internet and found a website called Ditch the Space. Their Ditch Is Your Gain. Now before you make any judgment, let me be very specific here. In my old house where I lived with my parents, there were times when we had some financial problems and we had to sublet our space in order to decrease the financial pressure and get an extra source of income. We placed an ad in a local newspaper. And guess what, the first thing we were hit was people complaining how we intentionally lied about the listing in the newspaper and that it’s the opposite of what they actually read in the newspaper.
In order to avoid this same situation, I started looking for the listings on the mentioned site. I was amazed to see how the listings were there with all the details including the pictures, number of bedroom/bathrooms etc. And when I found out the Advance Search feature, it was just a moment of time for me to short list the apartments that suited my need. Now, suppose if I was searching for an ad in a newspaper, I wouldn’t be able to shortlist that easily and I have to personally visit each apartment to see if it fits my needs.
Take an example of this listing. I am a single person, so an 1 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom apartment is best for me. And by the looks of it in the pictures placed on the site, it shows how well it is built and that every tiny bit of space is utilized. Now there are other listing sites as well but none of them provide that level of info in such limited space.
Overall, the site is great. It has got all the necessary features that should be there for an apartment listing site. You can list your own apartment or flat for as low as $4.99. If you want to inquire about a particular listing, you can either pay 99 cents for just a single inquiry or you can pay $2.99 for up to 10 inquiries if you are still looking.
So, what are you waiting for? Go and visit the website and Ditch The Space’s Blog to start looking for your new apartment. This is a Premium Service for brokers and property managers. Isn’t it nice to get a short-term rental in the pictures before you make the final call?
