The Dreo MC710S Purifier Tower Fan, part of DREO’s MultiComfort series, combines a powerful fan with an air purifier, offering users customizable wind and purification settings to maximize comfort. It promises superior performance at a fraction of the price compared to leading brands like Dyson. Is the 2-in-1 device really an attractive option for budget-conscious consumers?
Design and Build
The Dreo MC710S has a silver plastic exterior. It looks exactly like they put a tower fan on top of an air purifier and stick them together to create this product. The design is a bit bulky and doesn’t look as clean and minimalist as the Dyson Purifying Fan. It is also fairly heavy at 18 lbs and although it includes a built-in handle on top, carrying it around is not really easy.
The unit features two brushless DC motors: one to draw in air from the bottom and another to oscillate the unit up to 60 degrees, effectively distributing clean air throughout large rooms. It is designed for spaces between 150 and 300 square feet. Similar to other air purifiers, it includes a HEPA filter capable of removing 99.97% of particles 0.3 microns or larger, such as bacteria, pollen, and smoke. Unfortunately, it lacks an activated charcoal filter, which would help remove odors and organic vapors. This is quite disappointing because I love the charcoal filter and almost all air purifiers have it.
Functionality and Performance
The MC710S offers impressive air purification capabilities but falls short in some areas compared to top competitors. The dual-motor system allows for effective oscillation and air distribution, enhancing its cooling effect. However, the unit’s low Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) of 60 CFM limits its ability to purify air as efficiently as dedicated air purifiers with significantly higher CADR ratings (100-600 CFM). As a fan, the airflow is pretty good at 27ft/s and reach up to 40 ft distance.
The fan features an intuitive touch interface on the top panel for setting up Wi-Fi, choosing operation modes, and displaying air quality levels, fan speed, temperature, and filter life. The included remote control and Dreo app allow for remote adjustments and real-time monitoring of air quality. The app also supports voice control via Alexa and Google Assistant.
Despite its large size, the Dreo MC710S is relatively quiet, producing only 55.0 dB of noise at full blast. This makes it suitable for use in bedrooms and offices where noise levels are a concern.
Maintenance of the Dreo MC710S is straightforward. The pre-filter and rear grills can be easily cleaned, and the HEPA filter needs replacement approximately every six to nine months. Replacement filters are reasonably priced at $40 each, making ongoing maintenance affordable.
Verdict
The Dreo MC710S Purifier Tower Fan is a versatile option for those seeking an all-in-one air purifier and fan. It is a good budget alternative to more premium models. However, its large size, lack of an activated charcoal filter, still expensive price, and relatively low CADR may be drawbacks for some users.
