Google PageRank Update is Happening, Again

It seems like Google is playing around with PageRank system. We even thought that the system could be ended after the update in April last year. we had to wait for 8 months for next update in January 2011 and everything has changed since then. According to the Pagerank Update History, this year Google has updated PageRank more often and just today, there is a PageRank update happening and I could see the change on all of my websites.

Surprisingly, the update happens on my brand new sites also. I purchased some new domains about 3 weeks ago and now they’ve already had PR1 on homepage, some inner pages even have PR2 and PR3 now. We all know that there are 2 PageRank systems, internal pagerank and external pagerank. The internal PageRank is known as the most important factor to get high rankings on Google search results pages. Sometimes Google will extract the data and publicize to all webmasters, that’s the external PageRank we see on the green bar.

Webmasters complained a lot about the accuracy of Google PageRank because it was updated only once in a long period of 3-4 months. However, the viewpoint will change if Google shortens the updating gap. There have been already 3 major PageRank updates in the last 6 weeks and this is a very good sign pointing out that Google is publicizing the rank more usual. It also means that PageRank would become a more reliable metric for advertisers or buyers to determine a website’s popularity and credibility.

Therefore, I really hope Google will keep the PR update frequency. It is good for all, site owners have more ideas about how they should develop their sites and advertisers know which site will be suitable and credible enough for them. Do you have the same opinions with me?

    Wow another one? I guess as you said, it might be a good sign. I still have a PR4, I got it from the previous PR update

      Yeah, this is another one after the update in July, it appears that Google is updating PR on monthly basis and you can see your site gets PR5 sooner. :)

      I don’t know what they want to do, maybe Google wants to update it as usually as Alexa rank. Isn’t it good for us? We won’t need to wait 3-4 months to see the PR change anymore. :)

    Actually, I have no idea if this update will last till future update. Because last 2 months Google also update. For example, my new blog suddenly got PR 3 but 2 months later it dropped to PR1.
    My other blog from PR2 became PR0, but 1 month later it change to PR1. Very confusing. But surprise my newest 1 month old blog with no traffic got PR4.
    It is only a joke or just a test?

      I also saw some new websites have PR2 or PR3 but haven’t seen any 1 month old blog with PR4. That’s very impressive, mate. Did you do any link building for that site?

        Yes I did link building just like my others blog. But I’m sure Google will make revision about my blog. Currently Google often update PR for all sites.

    Google really seems to be updating PR quite a bit this year, which is surprising since Google has been trying to downplay PR the past few years.

    So far there is no PR change on my blog, but I just achieved my latest PR on the last update.

      Yeah, it was just 3 weeks ago and maybe your site’ PR hasn’t changed yet. If Google continue updating PR monthly, I guess you won’t have to wait long to see the PR increase.

      Anyways, the important thing for our blogs is getting traffic, your blog has very impressive stats and you don’t need to worry much about the PR.

    My blog got PR1 on 27th July and PR2 on today. What I have to do now for PR4 ?

      I think you should concentrate on building quality content and try best as you can to get more back link to your blog. However, PR4 is not a easy milestone as far as I known!

    I only start my news blog and even has not yet submitted it to Google news, but it already has a PR1 too. I hope if the updates is indeed to be shortened, next month mine will get PR2 or even PR3. :-) What makes me wonder is that surely none of my internal pages has high PR as they are written in news format, but with only less than 100 articles, I got the PR1.

    My site dropped from a 3 to a 1…not fair! But I still have some inner pages that are at a 2…I really hope Google starts doing the pagerank thing on a monthly basis. That would be awesome!

      Yeah Chris,
      I am also expecting the same thing. That would be great if Google updated PR every month. Anyways, you don’t need to worry much about the increase and decrease of PR, it could distract your from developing your site.

    I honestly have no idea what is going on in Big G’s mind but I ain’t complaining, as I’m probably one of the many that benefited from the scheduled updates. My guess is Google is testing something new with the algorithm and it is only a matter of time before a representative makes an announcement on it.

    It would be great if Google can keep on the update process and make it to be more frequent so that people (webmasters) can take the tasks of building quality traffic to their blog more serious. Thanks for the information.

    Hello Tuan. I jumped from PR0 – PR4 in the last update. What are the chances of going up in this one?

      I you haven´t seen an update in your pagerank by now, then you didn´t have change in your pagerank.
      But what the hey from 0 to 4 in one go, you have to love that.! :D

      I “just got an increase in the internal pagerank, I would love for my site being a pagerank 4 site!!

    I also hope that Google would continue to update the pagerank at this rate, but unfortunately I don´t think it´s gonna be like that.!
    But if they are gonna update pagerank like they did in 2004-2005, then it would give website owners a great bargain tool.! ;)

    And I hope to get an increase next time on all pages.! :)

      I am expecting the same thing too, that’s great if we can track how our link building strategies progress each month. All will be clarified next month, let’s wait and see what Google is doing. :)

    Evaluation page rank up and down is the key parameter of Google algo so never need to worry for it if you lost your pr just do consider with some good quality links that will help you again reverse back it .

    The new PageRank Toolbar values were calculated only few days after the previous update, that is between 12th and 15th of May. As many of you noticed some of the PageRank values don’t make sense (high values on few fresh internal pages, dropped values on homepages etc) and thus one could expect that more minor changes are on the way.

    Looks like pagerank was updated again. I have this one website that dropped from PR2 to PR1 and my other site (which is almost 2 months old) increased from PR0 to PR2.
    How frequently do Google really update PageRank?

    Hi for everybody! Very useful information,thanks! But I need your opinion.Generaly I have onesite which pagerank is 1 from last 7 november 2011 update.Once I observed that one page (not the main) have pagerank 2,next day it fall down again at 0.Can somebody advice me why it hapened?Thanks in advince.
