Needless to say, iPhone 5 has become the hottest topic in the tech industry for a couple of months. Taking the chances, many affiliate marketers are trying to capitalize the keyword “iPhone 5“.
After we figured out the misleading iPhone 5 ads of Amazon on Google’s search result pages last week, now there have been already iPhone 5 ads of eBay on Bing. The ad on Amazon says that “iPhone 5 at Amazon.com – Buy iPhone 5 at Amazon… Qualified orders over $25 ship free” while the ad on eBay tells “Get great deals on Iphone 5. Shop eBay today!”. Here are what we would see when search for the iPhone 5 keyword on Google and Bing:
Of course, we can’t find any information about iPhone 5 when clicking on those ads. They lead related search landing pages on Amazon and eBay for the “iPhone 5” keyword, and what we can see are miscellaneous iPhone parts and accessories.
The fake iPhone 5 ads really make Google, Bing, Amazon and eBay look bad even they are not actively involved in creating them, sellers and affiliate marketers are the principals of all the misleading ads. I think they should act immediately by removing those ads so that they don’t affect their reputation more seriously.
