If you are a smartphone user, battery life must be your biggest concern. Particularly when you are using an iPhone 6 or iPhone 6S, I’m pretty sure that you always have to find a power outlet because the iPhone hardly could last for a full day.
An external battery is a great solution as it can charge your smartphone on the go. However, the problem is that many external batteries have low power capacity and you will have to charge the batteries very often. Today, I’m going to review the Jackery Giant+ with 12,000mAh battery, one of the highest capacity you can find on an external battery for smartphones. Let’s check this out.

Design and Performance
The Jackery Giant+ is quite big compared to the Jackery Air. This is understandable because the Giant+ comes with an ultra-high 12,000 mAh capacity while the Air’s is just 5,000 mAh. The Giant+ is also thicker and heavier, however, I still don’t have any problem holding it with one hand.
I even prefer the design because it looks much more modern, sleeker and sturdier. It only comes in black color and it is unbelievably good-looking. The whole unit has aluminum body with curves on two sides. On the front, there is just a Jackery logo and a 3-LED indicator to tell the current level of battery when charging or discharging. On the bottom, you will see an LED flashlight, a mini-USB port to charge the unit and 2 USB ports to charge your devices.
The flashlight could be turned on by double clicking on the Power button. The light is not really bright but you will still can use it to find the way in the dark.
The Giant Plus comes with dual USB ports, that means you can use it to charge 2 devices simultaneously. However, one is 5V/1A and the other is 5V/2.1A output, so you might find the 5V/2.1A output more useful because it charges devices much faster.
I used it to charge my LG G2 for the whole week without recharging the unit, the high power capacity is enough to charge the G2’s battery of 3,000 mAh about 4 times (from around 10% to 100%). I also tried it with LG G Flex’s 3,500 mAh battery and the Giant+ easily can charge my phone for over 3 times. Therefore, I believe the 12,000 mAh capacity is correct and then you will just need to charge the external battery once or twice per week, which is amazing.
The external battery doesn’t come with an adapter, there is only a USB cable in the box. However, this is not a big problem because you can use your phone charger to charge the external battery. Its input is 5V/1.5A and it will take around 10 hours for a full charge. I’d recommend you to charge it overnight then.
Conclusion
Pros
- Sleek and sturdy design.
- Ultra high capacity of 12,000 mAh.
- LED battery indicator is helpful.
- LED flashlight is a nice extra feature.
- Support high-speed charging on one USB port.
Cons
- Slow charging time (about 10 hours).
- Power adapter is not included.
- LED flashlight is dim.
I almost have no complaint why using the Jackery Giant+, it has done a great job as an external battery. Just put it in your bag and you can forget about charging your smartphone for a whole week. This is one of the best-selling external batteries on Amazon, and TechWalls strongly recommends this product.
Update: The external battery pack is still working perfectly after nearly 2 years. This is amazing because many other products were dead after just a few months.

I have one and I agree with your review except that lithium Ion batteries should only be charged when a responsible adult is nearby and not asleep. That means don’t leave them alone when changing. The batteries have been known to overheat, start a fire and sometimes explode. It doesn’t happen often, but why take a chance? The same applies to charging anything with lithium Ion batteries, phones, laptops, tablets, GPS and everything else they are used in.

I agree fully with the review. This is great I’ve charged my iPad from dead to full charge 3x on a single charge of battery pack.. I have convinced several people to get one.i recently became disabled.my iPad is my lifeline communication with the world. I no longer have a voice box. I use my iPad and a Bluetooth speaker with an ap I type it speaks for me. A dead iPad I’m stranded with little or no way to communicate. So this very dependable back up is extremely important. To me thanks to this jackery. I was able to get thru some difficult situations. Several other people at the rehab facility. I go to saw it and got one for themselves. Smartphones are of great importance to a handicapped individual. For both safety and morale issues
