Octa-core Smartphone prices drop in China as lower-end market competition increases

By Guest Authors

As the battle of affordable smartphones start in China prices of octa-core smartphones are decreasing drastically even though the chip haven’t been introduced in the smartphones globally, China has already outgrown it.

This is all because of MediaTek a company who is known for their cheap and affordable processors and they seem to be the first one to equipped smartphones with their true octa-core chips. Some sources confirms that Chinese companies like Coolpad might start offering true octa-core smartphones using MediaTek chips for just $165 and if that happened there would be a lot of other companies following their league. One of the two true octa-core smartphones released by the Coolpad Company is named Great God F1 and if you look at its specs and the price point of the smartphone it’s just money well spent.

The smartphone has a 5-inch display with 720p resolution, true octa-core MT6592 chip from MediaTek and a 13 MP shooter on its back with a price point of $147 and its one of their recently launched smartphone. The smartphone company no doubt is doing a great job by supplying customers who can’t afford expensive smartphone with the latest technology in a great price but it will make other companies like Huawei, ZTE, Lenovo, TCL, Gionee and many other to reduce their prices because at the moment their true octa-core smartphones are prices are ranging from $281 to $331. According to some speculation Xiaomi might be able to give Coolpad a challenge as there are rumors of Xiaomi releasing a true octa-core smartphone for the price tag of $132.

That is not it as there has been a lot of demand for low cost 4G LTE smartphones in China as well and if that happened then according to the sources it’s expected that the low cost 4G LTE smartphones in china will cost around $248 and might drop to $165 in one year time. Looks like China is far ahead from us in terms of technology but all these smartphones are sold only in China and if they started shipping globally we are sure companies like Coolpad and Xiaomi will make a great impact on some of the good smartphone companies out there specially in countries where people can’t afford smartphones.
