OUPES Exodus 600 Portable Power Station Review – Portable, Affordable, and Versatile

Small power stations might not have the high capacity demanded by many users but they are still a great option for everyday use, outdoor adventures, or emergency situations. These compact devices provide a convenient solution for keeping essential electronics charged and operational, particularly during power outages or when traveling off-grid. With the OUPES Exodus 600‘s price of around $139 and its 256Wh capacity, the cost per watt-hour (Wh) is approximately $0.54. This makes it an economical choice, offering both affordability and high performance in a lightweight, user-friendly package.

Design and Portability

Weighing in at just over 8 lbs, the Oupes is impressively lightweight and I can carry it around easily. Whether you are taking it on a camping trip, using it in remote cabins, or keeping it as a backup power source at home, its portability is a major advantage. Besides, there is a foldable handle on top, so you can open it and carry the power station effortlessly wherever you need power.

The device features a small but informative screen displaying basic information such as battery percentage, remaining time, and input/output watts, helping users monitor its status easily. The quiet operation, thanks to its variable-speed cooling fans, ensures it remains unobtrusive in various settings.

It is equipped with a variety of ports to meet diverse power needs. It features two AC outputs for standard devices, one USB-C PD output for fast charging, two USB-A outputs, and one DC output. This array of ports ensures you can charge multiple devices simultaneously, from laptops and smartphones to cameras and other small electronics.

Solar & AC Charging

The charging capabilities of the Exodus 600 are quite impressive as well. It supports both AC and solar charging, with the latter being facilitated by its high 240W solar input capacity. The inclusion of an MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) controller enhances its efficiency, enabling it to maximize the energy harvested from solar panels. I used my 200W solar panel with a DC7909 connector to charge the Exodus and it takes about 2-3 hours for a full charge.

If you need to recharge it faster, you can use AC power, with the device capable of going from 0% to 80% in just 30 minutes and reaching full charge in an hour.

Power and Performance

Despite its compact size, the Exodus 600 packs a punch with a 600W output and a 256Wh capacity. This makes it suitable for a variety of small tasks, from charging phones and laptops to powering lights and small appliances. The device incorporates a LiFePO4 battery, ensuring reliable performance over extended periods.

The Exodus 600 also features Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) function, which boasts a swift sub-20ms switch-over time. This capability is particularly valuable during blackouts, as it can seamlessly keep essential electronics like PCs running without interruption.

In real-life tests, the Exodus 600 lives up to my expectations. Currently I mostly use it to recharge my phone, laptop, lights when we travel to remote cabins with no electricity. Besides, I’m also using it as a backup power source at home. We have a few blackouts during summer and this is really useful to power on some lights and fans. It can power my fan for around 6 hours; In another test, I use it to power my workstation including a 5K monitor, a Macbook, and a fan; The Exodus lasted over an hour. Its ability to provide a high power output for brief periods adds versatility, making it a good option for sudden power needs. It boasts a decent AC power conversion efficiency of around 80%.
