PageRank gets a lot of press in the world of SEO, no one can deny that fact. After all, there are a lot of different sites that are dedicated to the idea of your PageRank. After all, when you look at its definition a Page Rank sounds like it would be important:
“Let’s start with what Google says. In a nutshell, it considers links to be like votes. In addition, it considers that some votes are more important than others. PageRank is Google’s system of counting link votes and determining which pages are most important based on them. ”
Page rank has become a serious tool for SEO experts for one reason, it is concrete. Unraveling the formulas behind search engines is next to impossible. You might have better getting into the vault of gold at Fort Knox the prying the search engine algorithm out of the cold, dead hands of the employees at Google. The PageRank tool gives you something to old onto, and when you are looking for a way to measure how valuable your site is that number is a concrete in a world of uncertainty and spy-like secrecy.
In case you’re wondering why something concrete is even required you need to shift your frame of mind. If you’re wondering about rankings you thinking about the web. Stop for a second and think like a business. Businesses do not like having uncertainty in the mix. They like to have a solid number that will show them how much their investment in time and dollars is worth. So, for this reason we have given the idea of a PageRank, the idea that you can give your whole site a single number that determines it worth, an inflated amount of importance.
The bottom line is that your PageRank is not really the end all, be all of the situation. The actual PageRank is only one small part of a much larger system that you are dealing with. The honest answer is that the place your site comes into on the rankings are influenced by a lot of different factors, but most of those other factors are kind of amorphously described. If you want to see for yourself you can take a look at the official Google definition of how search is calculated. It really does not give a lot of solids for a site owner to hold onto.
So, when you think about your PageRank you need to keep in mind that while it does matter, it does not matter nearly as much as many experts will tell you that it does. There is a serious psychological affect that has inflated a small part of the rankings process to a serious value.

PageRank of the page matters, but not a lot. However the PageRank of the HomePage is the top factor on Google. Furthermore, Google gives a hidden boost to the PR of HomePages that are competing for keywords.
Having high HomePage PagerRank would not guarantee high positioning for keywords as keyword relevance also matters. Google determines this from on-page factors and the anchor text in the links to the page.
The averaged HomePage PageRanks of the top competitors for keywords is the best metric we have for keyword difficulty. If your website has relatively little HomePage PageRank compared to your competitors, top results page positioning on Google is unlikely.

Most webmasters said that PR isn’t significantly related with SERPs. There are a plenty of examples proven the the claims. However, it turns to be very important if we sell links to advertisers. The higher PR the higher they will pay.

Perhaps, pagerank is the most important when it comes to SEO. If you take a look at websites such as: Wikipedia, facebook, and youtube. You’ll notice they have the highest pageranks than any other website. This shows how much popularity websites are with pageranks.

For me, a site’s PR still matters. It still counts as concrete foundation for your website. Without it, you can’t easily distinguish authority website from those that are not.

In my opinion, Page Rank does matter but Google has a real-time page rank update system which is reflected on the PR toolbar every 3 to 4 months. The real calculations are done using the real-time PR. Although PR is a major ranking factor, there are other important factors that you can’t ignore..

Thank you all for the comments and feedback! Nothing is more gratifying to a writer then when their piece starts a discussion.
I wrote this piece because people tend to take an all or nothing approach to Page Rank and it really hurts your blogging. A lot of us on the technical end forget that despite their relationship to SERPs, which isn’t always clear, your PR is an important part of the business end of running a site. I’m glad that so many of you agree.
