Quirky Converge Docking Station Review

By Tuan Do

Quirky is the brand well-known for implementing interesting ideas for their products. A few months ago, I reviewed the Quirky Egg Minder but the smart egg tray was so disappointing for its expensive price. I am giving another try with the Quirky Converge Docking Station, let’s see if this product deserves your money.

Design and Features

I checked out product images of the docking station before getting it and I was impressed with its clean design, all charging cables seem to be hidden away. However, the real product doesn’t meet my expectations at all.

The Quirky Converge features a curved design that allows stashing cords underneath and behind the station. Then you can place your devices above and the soft TPE grips can keep them securely. However, if you have big devices like iPad or LG G Flex, you must be very careful because my devices easily slipped out of the station sometimes.

You can also see there are 4 USB ports on the back which can be connected to charge your devices. But again, there are a lot of problems if you want to charge your phone using this station. Firstly, my unit doesn’t come with a UK – US converter, so I had to buy one separately. Secondly, the power output of each USB port is just 500 mA, so it charges my LG G2 very slowly. Another problem is that my USB cable has a bigger mini-USB connector, so it almost can’t fit into the station and as you can see in the image below, my device can’t lean on the station.

The Quirky Converge is available on Gearzap for around $56. Overall, this is another bad product by Quirky in my opinion. You can have a better experience if you are using an iPhone but really I won’t recommend this product unless you want to waste your money.
