I often used simple devices like an indoor hygrometer/thermometer to view temperature or humidity in my house. I was quite excited about testing a smart weather station because it could give me more data on a larger and more beautiful screen. The Sainlogic WiFi Smart Weather Station SA1 has a lot of potential but is it really worth the extra cost?

Design and Build Quality
The SA1 features an 8.15-inch LCD display and I’m quite surprised with its brightness and readability. The display unit is made of ABS plastic with mounting holes and a built-in stand, so you can hang it on the wall or just place on a tabletop. It can be powered by 3 AAA batteries or an included AC adapter; I’d recommend using the adapter because it could drain out those batteries quickly.

Inside the box, we also have an outdoor sensor which is powered by 3 AAA batteries. You can hang this unit outside to measure air temperature, humidity, pressure, and dew point. The wireless range is 300 ft but in real world, there are many obstacles between the 2 units, so the real range is just around 90 feet.

Setup Process and Usability
The setup process was not as smooth as I expected as the Weatherseed app was quite buggy, and it took multiple attempts to add the device. Additionally, I encountered a high-pitched noise from the device, which was quite annoying and disrupted my initial use. Fortunately, this issue was resolved after a firmware update, but the update process itself was not smooth.

The buttons on the right side of the device are not really intuitive, so you will need to read the manual to understand what you’re doing. Unfortunately, the manual is written in broken English and not really helpful. Settings cannot currently be changed via the app, which is a significant limitation. This means any adjustments must be made directly on the device.
Update: The manufacturer reached out and explained that the app is being optimized and they would address those issues in a future update. Regarding the high-pitched noise, they said they would fix it and the next batch won’t have this problem.
Features & Performance

The SA1 shows a lot of information on its display, all arranged in a grid-like pattern. At a glance, I see the time, date, and moon phase on top. Then, it features AI-driven weather forecast on the left grid, complete with icons indicating conditions like sun, clouds, or rain, alongside dew point, “Feels Like” temperature, and atmospheric pressure. On the right side, you can see the indoor/outdoor temperature and humidity. The dense arrangement of data can feel overwhelming for new users.

The device supports Wi-Fi synchronization, so you will never have to adjust date/time manually. The time is always accurate and of course, it is automatically updated for Daylight Saving Time (DST). Besides, users can monitor the app remotely via the Weatherseed app. You can set alerts for temperature and humidity thresholds, receiving notifications via email or the app, and access two years of historical data. This might come useful for monitoring specific environments like greenhouses or wine cellars.
Once I finally got the device operational, it performed well and I don’t need to open the app again. The temperature and humidity readings seemed accurate, as compared to my other devices. The AI-driven forecast feature is interesting but not always reliable, you still should compare the future weather conditions with local reports.
Conclusion
Pros
- Large, bright display
- Accurate temp/humidity readings
Cons
- Buggy app
- Unintuitive interface
In conclusion, the Sainlogic WiFi Smart Weather Station SA1 has potential with its feature set. It performs really well as long as you can get through the setup process. The app is buggy but this might be fixed soon in an update. It does provide useful weather monitoring capabilities, particularly for those interested in long-term data analysis.
