Nowadays, a portable backup battery is an important accessory for our smartphones because their included batteries are draining faster and sometimes couldn’t last for a full day.
I always keep a backup battery in my bag to keep my phone available, especially in emergency cases. I used portable batteries from different brands but I’ve never tried an official one from phone manufacturers. Samsung BP3100 portable battery pack is a product designed for Samsung Galaxy line up but you can also use it for other devices. Let’s check it out.

Design and Features
The Samsung BP3111 looks very similar because it has a signature design of recent Samsung smartphones. The front and back of the product are covered by faux leather and stitching pattern along the edges. We can also see there are metal stripes on the sides. The design could remind you of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 but it is just half the size and very lightweight.
On top of the Samsung battery, we can spot the battery-level button, indicator light, micro-USB port and an integrated charging cable. There is no charger and USB cable inside the box, but you always can use your phone’s charger to charge the battery. The integrated charging cable is just used to charge your smartphone. I really like the retractable charging cable because I no longer need to bring a USB cable. I just need to pull it out to charge my phone and when finished, push it to the original location.
Performance
The battery has a capacity of 3100mAh. In theory, the battery can give my Samsung Galaxy S5 a full charge from 0% to 100% but it failed to deliver in my test. It just can recharge my phone from 20% to 86% in 2 hours and there is no power left. My phone can use some energy during the standby time but it is not significant, so the result is still underwhelming.
On the other hand, it takes quite long to recharge the battery. In most cases, I often plug it overnight because it won’t be full after at least 3.5 hours.
Conclusion
The Samsung BP3100 backup battery is available on MobileFun for £39.99. This is a very nice product and I recommend it if you don’t mind its slow recharging time.
