I finally had a backyard for my own and the first thing I wanted to buy was a fire pit. After doing some research, the Solo Stove Bonfire 2.0 seems to be the best option and a great way to enhance any gathering, whether it’s with friends, neighbors, or family. This sleek, stainless steel fire pit is not just shining with its modern design but more importantly, it really brings the joy of spending quality time around a warm, inviting flame.

Weighing just over 20 lbs, the Bonfire 2.0 strikes a perfect balance between portability and durability. Its cylindrical metal body is robust enough to handle super high heat, ensuring longevity and safety. Despite its sturdy build, it’s light enough to be transported from a storage shed to your backyard, or even to a campsite, offering unparalleled versatility. This mid-range size in the Solo Stove lineup is more maneuverable than the larger Yukon model, yet it offers more space for group gatherings than the smaller Ranger.

One of the most significant features of the Bonfire is minimizing smoke. Its double-wall body and vent holes create a secondary burn that ignites unburnt particles in the smoke, reducing its blackness and producing a cleaner, whiter smoke. The mesmerizing secondary burn process, with flames dancing out of the vent holes, highlight the innovative approach to achieving a cleaner burn. This not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of the fire but also makes the experience more comfortable for everyone gathered around it.

Setting up the Bonfire 2.0 is a breeze, allowing you to start enjoying its warmth and beauty in no time. The whole process takes me less than 20 minutes. I started a small fire with some kindling in my backyard and lint from my dryer. I fueled my fire with pine and oak logs, and added a bit of pine cones to help build the flames. After establishing a bed of coals, I added some dry, cured wood, and sat back to watch it work. Once stacking up woods close to the vent holes, the fire could last 2-3 hours, depending on the weather.

At the end, the woods are burned almost entirely and it is super easy to clean up thanks to the ash pan. Just remove the baseplate, lift and empty the ash pan when it is completely cool. I often wait till the next day to make sure the ashes won’t ignite.

The Bonfire delivers a high fire with upward smoke. so you might not feel the heat when sitting away from the fire. That’s the reason why I had to buy the deflector to spread the heat to surroundings. It does a great job of getting heat to chess height while sitting. If you don’t have the deflector, you will have to stand up pretty close to the fire pit to get warm.

Another great way to upgrade the fire pit experience is using it with cooking accessories. I got myself the cast griddle top which is made to sit on top of a Hub to act as a grilling surface. It is a flat, cast iron griddle that is perfect for grilling steaks, chicken, burgers, etc. and will allow you to sear your meat with the Bonfire.
