Thinkway Toys released a bunch of new toys for the Star Wars: The Force Awakens movie, including some interactive figures and some remote-controlled toys. I’ve had a chance to try out two animatronic interactive figures of Darth Vader and Stormtrooper, let’s check them out.
Darth Vader Animatronic Interactive Figure
The Darth Vader figure is bigger than I thought but I was a little disappointed with the cheap plastic used on the toy. I expected higher-quality materials and better finishes because this is a very expensive figure. This Darth Vader obviously doesn’t look as handsome as some other ones but it has a lot more interesting features to play with.
Basically, you will have 3 modes, including training, battle and talk mode. In the training and battle modes, you will be able to control the beautiful Lightsaber, light it up with sound effects and Darth Vader’s original voice. The talk mode is activated by raising the left arm, the figure will move and talk more. You can see more details in the video above.
Stormtrooper Animatronic Interactive Figure
The Stormtrooper figure is simpler than I imagined, especially after playing with the Darth Vader. It is smaller, has fewer points of articulation and has just 2 play modes. However, it has a unique voice-activated feature. You can talk to the Stormtrooper and it will respond immediately. Of course, the responses are random and it doesn’t anything you say, you even can clap your hands or make any sound to make it work. When you speak louder or raise your voice, the Stormtrooper will turn to Battle mode, raise the Blaster and start firing you.
The interactive figures might be nice additions to your Star Wars toy collection. However, they don’t come cheap, so you’d better try them at ToysRUs before spending your money. You can also find them on Amazon (Darth Vader, Stormtrooper) for around $100 each.
