PayPal has been my primary payment method for over a decade, not because I love it but because it has a huge customer base. In the US, it is also the leading payment option for online transactions. I’ve had multiple issues with my PayPal account and they even limited it on some occasions.
Most recently, suddenly I couldn’t access my Wallet or the Banks and cards section. Moreover, when I tried transferring my PayPal balance to my bank account, an error showed up and prevented this action: “There were a few errors in retrieving your data.” It also suggested me to try again in a few minutes.
I tried again after a few hours but the issue persisted. I checked my account for any dispute or message but there was none. I also logged out and tried again in different browsers but that didn’t help. I waited until the end of the day and tried again but it was still not resolved. That was terrifying because I still keep a large amount in this account. I tried to contact customer service but it took a long time for their response.
In the meantime, I thought that this could be a problem with the web interface only. So I tried withdrawing the balance using the PayPal app on my phone. Surprisingly, the app worked smoothly and I had no problem at all. The withdrawal was approved and I received the money 1 day later. At that time, the website still had the error and it was gone 2 days later.
Therefore, if you see this error, that is probably not your fault and you can just wait a few days to get access to your account again. In case you need it urgently, you can try the PayPal app which worked great in my case.
