At CEDIA 2024, VividStorm unveiled the S Fusion ALR Floor Rising Screen, the Hisense PX3-PRO TriChroma RGB Laser Cinema TV UHD Ultra Short Throw Projector, and the upcoming Hisense C2 Ultra 4K UHD Smart Projector. However, it was the company’s DUNE Motorized Laser TV Cabinet that won ProjectorCentral’s CEDIA Expo 2024 Best of Show award. With its unique design and motorized features, it brings plenty to the table when it comes to bolstering the quality of a projector-based home theater.
First, for those new to projector-based setups, a home theater consists of three fundamental components: the projector, the screen, and the cabinet that holds them. Only with these elements in place can additional peripherals be added.
The cabinet is particularly crucial for ultra-short throw (UST) projectors, which project light almost perpendicularly to the screen’s surface, allowing them to be placed at the base of the screen to save space. While they work fine on the floor, pairing them with a high-quality projector cabinet enhances the theater’s convenience and aesthetics appeal.
With those criteria in mind, The VividStorm DUNE has it all, starting with its gorgeous appearance. Its top half comprises solid wood finished with a Walnut, Smoked Walnut, or Oak veneer that not only protects the wood from moisture and scratches, but also contrasts with the cold chrome shine of the full steel base, which is both durable and adds a sense of stability and balance. Furthermore, the steel base’s chrome accents draw the viewer’s eyes to its wrapped contour that accentuates a feeling of flow.
Flashy looks aside, the true beauty of the VividStorm DUNE cabinet is the fully motorized experience it unlocks. With a click of the remote, the cabinet deploys the projector from its holding tray, turns it on, and raises the projector screen simultaneously. When the show is over, the cabinet carefully rolls the projector screen back and protects it from dust, creasing, and scratches from pets in its dedicated compartment. This makes a projector theater just as convenient as operating a TV, turning it into an “instant theater.” Even from a purely aesthetics standpoint, storing all the components in a cabinet makes the space look much cleaner.
Internally, the VividStorm DUNE cabinet has ample room to store everything a home theater needs–audio systems, game consoles, remotes, controllers and more. The UST projector and projection screen each get their discrete compartments. It even comes with cooling fans that directs air to the projector.
Designed for high-end decor, it’s no surprise that the VividStorm DUNE carries a hefty price tag. The 100-inch model starts at $11,849, and the 120-inch model starts at $14,199. Currently, they’re on sale starting at $9,499 and $11,499, respectively. Additionally, purchasing the Hisense PX3 PRO UST projector along with the cabinet saves an additional $349 on the projector.
