It is actively sold out and becoming an environmentally friendly human assistant.

Besides this apparent reason, others support the popularity of electric cars. For example, such vehicles help save on refueling, repairs and maintenance. The difference is significant; many people stop using their old gasoline or diesel cars. Nowadays, special attention is paid to the safety of the driver and passengers. In this regard, electric vehicles are always ahead of models with a fuel engine. This is explained by the absence of many significant parts in the design, which, in the event of an accident, could cause injury to a person. Of course, we should not forget about the quieter operation of the engine, which, for many, is the main reason for their love for an electric car.

Modern people are accustomed to following various trends. That is why they choose electric cars for themselves, even in cases where they can get by with a standard model. Keeping up with automotive fashion automatically elevates the driver’s status and transforms him from a polluter into a caring environmentalist. In addition, many countries are gradually tightening laws regarding emissions of harmful substances into the atmosphere. In fear of getting a fine or more severe punishment, people leave their fuel car in the garage and switch to an electric model.

Disadvantages of electric cars

Having decided why people want to buy an electric car, we can begin to present the facts proving that this mode of transport is gradually leading us to a dead end. To do this, it is enough to consider the disadvantages of models with an electric motor and explain why they will be challenging to eliminate in the future.

For many, the main disadvantage of electric cars is their high cost. Most often, it is several times higher than that of models running on gasoline or diesel fuel. Because of this, many cannot afford such an expensive purchase, so they begin to consider vehicles with a fuel engine exclusively. It is impossible to correct this shortcoming since the cost of production and the price of components for electric cars are unlikely to decrease significantly. This can be proven using the example of already outdated electric vehicles. At the time of their release, the cost of fuel models was about the same as it is today.

The second disadvantage due to which electric cars are doomed to failure in the future is the need for frequent recharging. In most cases, a modern vehicle’s battery energy lasts 2-3 hundred kilometers. Moreover, almost any car can travel 2-3 times longer with a full tank of gasoline. An equally important factor is the charging time of an electric vehicle. On average, owners of such models will have to spend 10-15 times more time at a particular gas station than drivers sitting behind the wheel of a fuel car. In modern realities, it is impossible even to devise a way to correct both of these shortcomings. If manufacturers can maximize an electric car’s battery, then it will take even longer to charge it, which will turn this process into the main problem for the owner of such a car. If it is possible to shorten the stay at the gas station, it will be impossible to achieve a significant increase in the power reserve indicator.

Another significant drawback is that it is unrelated to the electric car’s battery. At low temperatures, it discharges faster, which significantly reduces the power reserve that is already small. If we add to this the energy costs for heating the interior, seats, and steering wheel, then on one charge, it will be possible to travel only 60%-70% of the distance declared by the manufacturer. Theoretically, this deficiency can be corrected, but this is unlikely to happen shortly in practice.

Why will electric cars never replace fuel-powered models?

Initially, the widespread use of electric cars would be a great idea. By eliminating transport that harms the environment, we will partially solve the global environmental problem and clean the air in our cities. In theory, everything is always straightforward, but it is impossible to implement such an idea in practice. The problem is not only that electric cars are costly and require much attention, but also in the very attitude of people towards such transport. For many, it does not suit all parameters. If young people can quickly adapt to changing from a fuel engine to an electric one, then people of the older generation will need much more time. In most cases, they will not want to deviate from the classics and try environmentally friendly new products. The same will happen to drivers who value the history of their country’s automotive industry and will not accept the legendary models in which the fuel engine was replaced with an electric one.

Modern people’s frantic pace of life forces them to value every free minute. In this regard, they are unlikely to want to spend at least an hour simply waiting for an electric car’s battery to charge but will prefer to fill the tank with gasoline in 3 minutes. Also, do not forget that there are many more gas stations for fuel models in any city than analogs for electric cars. Another proof that transport powered by battery power is a dead-end option is the disdainful attitude of ordinary people towards environmental issues. Many do not understand the problem’s seriousness and think it will not affect them. Because of this, they will continue to buy ordinary cars unless such vehicles are actively banned.

These days, the period of active acquisition of electric cars has ended. Proof of this is the gradual decline in the number of units sold, observed in almost all countries. Experts attribute the decrease in demand to the insufficiently developed infrastructure necessary for electric cars and the continuing transport cost. Already today, many well-known automakers are abandoning the idea of ​​complete electrification of their model range. Instead, they are expanding their range to include many hybrid models and cars with petrol or diesel engines. This trend does not put an end to electric vehicles but once again proves that their development is gradually reaching a dead end.

Nowadays, electric cars are associated with the words “fashionable”, “modern”, “eco-friendly”, and “safe”. Thanks to this, they are popular and become the main dream of many people. However, if you carefully analyze the current situation in the automotive market and look into the near future, then, most likely, in a few years, electric cars will be associated only with the word “dead end.” many facts prove the high probability of such an outcome. Nevertheless, I believe such transport will still have a chance to become the most popular on the roads of various cities, and it will take advantage of it.
